Pack of 10 or pack of 60? The maths
Unit price varies more across pack sizes than most people realise. Here is how to compare properly.
Dressing prices look similar on the shelf and differ substantially per dressing. The only number that matters for value is cost per dressing, which is why we print it on every product card.
Why bigger packs cost less per unit
Packing, labelling and shipping cost roughly the same whether a carton holds ten dressings or sixty. Spread across more units, that fixed cost per dressing falls.
When the big pack is wrong
- You rarely use that size — dressings have an expiry date and sterility to protect.
- You need several different sizes more than you need depth in one.
- Storage is poor. Damp or hot storage will spoil a large pack before you finish it.
A sensible household approach
Depth in the one or two sizes you actually reach for, plus a small pack of everything else. For most homes that means a bigger pack of small dressings and single packs of the larger sizes.
See a pharmacist, GP or urgent care if a wound will not stop bleeding after ten minutes of firm pressure, is deep or gaping, was caused by something dirty or rusty, contains anything you cannot flush out, or shows spreading redness, heat, swelling, pus or a fever. Get help urgently for animal or human bites, wounds over a joint, and any wound in someone with diabetes or poor circulation.
